Smiles lose their shine

in between cries

but I still hide

behind them, said so my tears

because no one comes near or even hears

to understanding my grief

as their judgment is at par for me

but have you ever tried

to twist your lips and touch your eyes

while your eyelids take form

of thunderstorms

after being failed to hold back the rain

of your loss and pain

Smiles lose their shine

because of the insensitivity we show

to ourselves and bow,

down to our sorrow

without trying to uplift tomorrow

we fear our future

when we see no color

Yes, smiles lose their shine

but what about the spark in your eyes

even when you cry there is a gleam,

trying to seek heartwarming motivation

but at our lowest times we rise,

from our broken foundations

The upliftment we required was never provided by an outsider but

from the shattered remains of faith that leave marks of hope from which

we can still manage to cope like we did before even if we are alone.
